What am I doing here?

I am a stay at home mom who is very concerned with the health of my family. I am always on the look out for healthy but tasteful dishes. Last month I attended a cooking class from the Cancer Project. I loved the new ideas and have been trying to implement the things I learned in my every day cooking.

I recently purchased some nifty new items for my kitchen, and I am so excited about them I decided to blog about my experiences and experiments.

My new SaladMaster waterless cookware came with a good size cookbook and I thought it would be fun to make a goal to try everything in the cookbook (my husband won't support me in trying the seafood). This cookware is completely different from anything else I have ever used, and I want to share this expirence with everyone so they can learn from my awesome mistakes and incredible triumphs!

My wonderful husband recently gave me the greatest gift ever, a Blendtec blender. It has a counter on it and I have already used it 30 times in one week. This device nicely compliments the cookware, and I will keep everyone apprised of my adventures with it as well.

Mud.. well that's what my husband called it

We have been using our Blentec blender to make all sorts of smoothies and frozen drinks. My husband's favorite is the Pina Colada. Of course it's wonderful it's full of sugar and fat.

The kids love the fruit smoothies. I use several different fruits, frozen and fresh, one cup of milk, ice, water and spinach (shhh they have no idea). I always use some sort of colored berry to cover up the green color of the spinach.

For myself... I will only tell you if you promise to come back to my site even if you think it sounds scary. I do fruit and veggie smoothies. I use one or two pieces of fruit, fresh or frozen, half of a banana, a ton of spinach, a little protein powder (usually vanilla from whole foods) and maybe a carrot or celery. Today we had Saladmaster coleslaw left over from last nights dinner. It was made simply of cabbage, apples and pineapple. Sounds delicious for a smoothie right? I used one peach, 1/2 banana, 1/2 apple, one carrot, 1/2 cup coleslaw, 1/2 scoop chocolate protein, one cup of my homemade almond milk, ice and lots of water. And no it didn't really look like mud, well a little bit. It really was good. It made way too much though. I had some in the morning and some in the afternoon and still dumped a 30oz cup out at the end of the day. It was so filling. How could it not be???
